Quizable

A web quiz app for the classroom: hosts create a quiz, players join with a code or a QR code and follow the leaderboard live. I designed the interface and the user experience, the logo and the visual assets.

Context

Quizable was built for academic settings: a quick login, creating and playing quizzes without paywalls, joining with a code or a QR code, statistics and a leaderboard during the game, a report after each quiz and reconnecting after a dropped connection.

Process

The UX work went from user personas and user flows for joining and creating a quiz, to a heuristic evaluation based on Nielsen's ten heuristics and usability tests with hosts and players, using task scenarios and post-test questionnaires.

Result

The usability tests pointed to concrete fixes: every tested host was unsure how to get the QR code after creating a quiz, so it should appear as soon as the quiz is ready, behind a clear share icon. Players wanted the question always on screen instead of behind an arrow, answers could still be sent after time ran out, and some layouts broke when the browser window was resized.

Logo

Explorations for the logo: a serif Q framed by angular, leaf-like shapes in pink and wine tones, tested as an app icon and with the wordmark, and prepared at the standard iOS and Android icon sizes.
